Red Bull Media House

In April 2016 I joined Red Bull Media House as the Copy Editor  for Red Bull TV, a Netflix-style app that…well, I’ll let some of the copy I wrote for the app’s home page explain it:

Beyond the Ordinary

Follow globetrotting adventurers to the most exciting corners of the planet. Discover new music and entertainment featuring trendsetting artists. Watch live events with top athletes from around the world. Red Bull TV gives you front row access wherever you are.

Red Bull TV serves up a mix of live events and on-demand films and series covering everything from action sports to major music festivals to eSports to vibrant subcultures from around the world.

Since the Copy Editor position was a new one for Red Bull TV (and the first role on the team dedicated to the text on the platform), I jumped in by writing a detailed style guide to cover everything related to voice and copy requirements. Day-to-day, I oversee all copy production for Red Bull TV as a part of the platform’s editorial strategy, acting as protector of the Red Bull TV voice and managing both in-house and remote copywriters. I also liaise with production, marketing, and social media teams to ensure that we’re producing accurate, engaging, and consistent copy for each new project, and that every piece of content is well-represented on our platform.

Since February 2017, I’ve also worked as the Interim Programming Manager for Editorial Operations. Primarily, this means I’m involved with editorially curating how content appears on the platform, working with our Insights/Analytics, User Voice, QA, and UI/UX teams to develop and optimize featuring strategies.
