In April of 2013, I was hired as Editor of Mxdwn Movies, an offshoot from the music journalism that Mxdwn Music had been up to for around a decade at the time. I spent more than two years growing the site from a fledgeling startup to a competitive outlet for film news and criticism. When I left the site in June of 2015, I’d written more than 500 articles, personally edited more than 2000, and overseen the publication of more than 3700.
Over the course of my time at Mxdwn Movies, my job was ever evolving, and covered every aspect of the site. I wrote news stories, reviews, and feature content. I planned and executed on-the-ground coverage of major festivals like SXSW. I personally edited the vast majority of the articles which appeared on the site during my tenure. I built a large network of contacts among major film publicists. I developed systems to organize and optimize a cross country staff of 18 writers, editors, and publicists.
