Editing

I love helping writers tell their stories better. Books, movies, narrative video games, and the like have been a huge part of my life since I was very young. I studied storytelling in college and found my passion within that field as an editor. I’ve spent the last six years editing and developing books, screenplays, short stories, pitch materials, editorials, and more for a variety of clients, typically in a developmental (rather than copy/line editing) capacity.

Turning over your manuscript to an editor can be a daunting task on a number of levels. I work with a limited number of writers so I can ensure each story gets my devoted attention. I want to love each story as much as its creator does, and I pour that love into all the work I do.

I’ve worked with Tim on three projects. He pushes me to clean up sloppy passages, cut slow ones and the overly purple descriptions or to take my time with rushed action sections. He’s also been invaluable at suggesting structural changes that greatly improve the narrative. In short, he helps the writer better tell his unique story. I intend to continue getting his editing services.

Every project is unique. Some writers are looking for organization of an initial concept. Others have a completed manuscript and are looking for analysis of style, theming, or plot and character arcs. Whatever it is you need for your project, let’s talk about it. I will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you need without breaking the bank.
